I just booked two nights in a little log cabin a couple of hours south of Whitehorse, complete with glacier views, a woodstove, and — crucially — an electrical outlet for my laptop. I’ve got a bunch of writing I’m aiming to get done in a short time span, so I figured I’d fashion my own little retreat.
Self-imposed writing seclusion is an experiment I’ve been meaning to try for awhile. I’m headed out later this week; here’s hoping I come back on the weekend a few thousand words richer.
I hope it works for you! I’ve heard that many authors do this and are successful. Unfortunately, at the moment I can’t go away on my own writer’s retreat but I hope to do so in the future.
That sounds so cool! I can’t wait to hear how that turns out. Please pack your camera.
For some reason when I read this title from Twitter I pictured a fort made from couch cushions i the living room. That would work too! 🙂
Happy writing!
Eva,
A very wise move! You will get so much done, I’m sure of it. I’ve gone away many times — though never to a cabin on my own, always to writing colonies — and it’s fantastic.
Have fun & happy writing!
Jessie
I’ve done this too. one bit of advice: give yourself time for transition.
What a great idea.
Wish I had thought of it as we have so many cabins in Juneau, some with views of a glacier, others with views of the mountains.
